Make of this story what you will. It is true to the best of my knowledge.
The unseen has a place in everyday life - it is no stranger to science or common sense - the air we breath, atoms, molecules, abstract ideals ... not seen with the naked eye.
There is also the greater unseen - that which resides more in the realm of faith than sense or science.
We see the effect of wind, though we do not see the wind itself. Abstract ideals leave their mark when they pass through a population. By their fruits we may know them.
I've always believed in unseen supernatural beings such as spirits and angels. By their fruits, they can also be known. For many years, however, I had reservations about fairies - often known as the "little people". It's not that I didn't WANT to believe in them - once, in a very special place, I could almost HEAR them (just below the threshold of normal hearing), yet I can't say that I was a whole-hearted believer in the little folk.
Stuff of beauty, stuff of legend, poetry and art - if only I could actually SEE one of these amazing creatures; but then, maybe I'd think it a trick of the eye. Some things are best perceived by their fruit ... and this is where my story begins.
Several months ago, an acquaintance emailed me about an amazing wooded area in New England she'd visited - where she saw crystals growing out of the ground, a fairy AND many Leprechauns! To be sure, this was a place I wanted to visit! Soon after, more emails arrived about how she and a mutual friend each had been told they had "little people" around them by spiritual practitioners, and other related synchronicities began occurring. As these were both people I hold in high esteem, I began to connect the dots - perhaps we should go to this wooded site - together! We made our plans, and I began some ardent research on faeries, leprechauns and the like, to prepare for the trip.
The site location was quite some distance from where I live, so I booked hotel rooms and decided to bring my dog along - and my children who were by now quite excited about the adventure-in-the-making. The friend we were pooling a ride with also decided to bring her dog. Two pooches, two kids and three very eager ladies were about to embark on the nature hike of a lifetime! Or so we anticipated.
As the date of our trip approached, I began to have more and more "little people" synchronicities occur, including quite a hunch that we'd find a treasure - perhaps leprechaun gold! I was pretty near convinced.
The day we
