Dear former colleague:
Thank you so much for your informed and very helpful advice regarding the performance of my duties. No matter what the situation, your unique and ever-present voice was a constant reminder. Undoubtedly, you must consider yourself both experienced and praiseworthy in order to persistently deliver such assistance to your fellow employees.
Even now, I can recall the day that my mother died, and how you made certain that I didn't forget to complete forms XYZ and 123 before attending to family needs. Of course, not everyone would have that undying level of concern. You are truly exceptional.
What's more, as I was once laid flat on my back in the hospital, I can remember your phone call to my bedside. Making a true, heartfelt inquiry, you dialed in to check on the status of special project ABC for our department. Who else would be so dedicated but you? No one; you are one of a kind, without a doubt.
Then there was the day that my son contracted sporadic diarrhea and projectile vomiting from school. Before I could go pick him up, you were there to ensure that all the "finishing touches" had been added to my report. Again, thank you for your original outlook on life's priorities. How would we have ever functioned without you?
After all, not everyone will put aside their own responsibilities as a worker to oversee the goings-on in others' lives. Your complete donation of dictatorial guidance, I assure you, did not go unnoticed. Even now, supervisors within our corporate office speak of you, bearing your name as one equated with thorough investigation of workplace practices. You can feel solidly satisfied that your actions and words toward your fellow colleagues have made a great difference in your future.
As you are terminated from your position today, allow me now to return the favors you once paid me. Before your departure, please ensure that:
1. Your desk is cleaned out.
2. All company property is returned.
3. You have paid any owed fees to Linda at the front desk. These include the coffee fund.
This is certainly the least I can do. Best wishes for the future.
Your former co-worker,
Your new boss
