*Prince of Wishes*

"Silly stories, that's all they are!" Amy was all grown up, at the age of ten, no less. Her mother, exasperated with Amy's attempts at getting rid of her childhood books, just sadly walked away into the kitchen.

"I wish she would believe in such things again," the mother whispered, "She was happy when she did."

Amy bundled her books into her school bag. After several tries, she managed to drag her burden outside. Unfortunately, only half-way to the disposal can, she had to stop and rest.

Wiping her brow, she heard footsteps behind her. "Mother, could you help me with this?"

A light laughter ensued, definitely not her mother's, "I have been called many things, but mother isn't one of them."

Amy whirled around, "Who-? What-?"

"Oh, pardon me." A peculiar man, who otherwise seemed normal in every way, except for the wings protruding from his back. "My name is Joseph, what's yours?"

Of course, not to be rude, Amy replied as was proper. "I'm Amelia, but everyone calls me Amy."

"Well, Amy," Joseph bent down to her level, "Do you know what I am?"

Flustered, for she hadn't read her books in so long, she tried to remember. "Um, well, I..."

He looked very disappointed, "You don't know?"

Amy felt like the most horrid child on the planet. Trying her hardest, she traveled quickly through the sweet memories of her mother's bedtime lullabies, and those books-. "You're a fairy!"

She gasped, when a sudden dust was blown upon her body.

"That's right, Amy." His smile was bright as gold. "You know the rules. Close your eyes, and make a wish."

Being the good girl that she was, Amy did as she was told. "I wish..."

(Later, at Dinnertime)

Amy hummed a tune, swaying her legs back and forth under her seat. She ate some, but her stomach was jittery. Her wish was promised to be fulfilled, come her eightenth birthday. Then, her prince would come.

A fairy prince, no less.
