The birth of my second baby has really given me a good cause to thank God because for some minutes before the C-Section (i gave birth to both my babies through this) commenced, i went to hell and back. At a stage i thought i was dead, after some time all i could hear was prayers from all sides of the hospital, i opened my eyes and found even the doctor praying.
The funny part of the whole scene was that i could not open my mouth to say a word i was just sweating profusely, and trying to get into a comfortable lying position because at that point i could no longer stand, i was already on the theater table, i had been cleaned up, my clothes had been removed, the baby in my tummy was busy doing serious gymnastics that were not called for at the time, i was burning all over and very hot. What was the problem, you may want to ask?
This is the story, my first child was delivered through a c-section and i was advised to give a space of 2 years before i considered another pregnancy but as fate will have it i got pregnant 6 months after my first baby. At first i considered having an abortion but my religious stance does not accept this so i went to the doctor and he advised that i will have to have a planned c-section. When i was close to the end of my term, i went for a check up and he told me that i had to come into the hospital in five days time for the operation, he checked me and said that with all the evidences it was not possible for me to fall into labor before this time.
But unfortunately, i fell into labor the very next day without really believing it was a serious thing , i called my doctor and he said it must be stress that i should just rest. After some hours the labor increased but i still did not take it serious until the electricity in the house cut off and the heat started getting through to me and i became so uncomfortable. At midnight i went into the hospital and the nurses saw that i was about 4 centimeters dilated, they immediately prepared me for the theater. On the theater table the doctor discovered that although i was 4 centimeters gone, the baby was already ready to come out but the passage was not wide enough, so immediately i was cleaned up and everything was set the doctor was about to make be go to sleep when BOOM, the generator set that had been supplying light went off, the machine was running but was not bringing light. They went to check on the generator, tried every thing they could but no solution. At this point i was in serious labor pains because as at that time the baby was supposed to be out like minutes ago. i was on the theater bed for close to one hour in serious pains before the doctor in the middle of the night had to call in a technician who finally fixed the light but before this time i was in so much pain that i asked the doctor to please make use of candles to perform the operation (funny).
After about an hour, the light was fixed and the operation commenced. At exactly 4 a.m my beautiful baby girl was delivered weighing 3.4 kg, about 6 pounds. The real miracle of this birth was that i was very lucky my baby did not die because by the time she was delivered she was already very distressed, she had already excreted some green substances into my womb before she was delivered.
But all this pains is what leads to the joy of motherhood because you never really know how important your child is until you are at the point of almost losing them.
