I tried to show how much I loved you,
But you wanted me to love you your way.
I loved you unconditionally,
But still you wanted more.
I tried to be the best person I could be,
You wanted me to be best your way.
I am the best person I can be,
I'm still not good enough.
I tried to do all the little things,
you wanted me to do ever little thing your way.
I did all the little things after you'd left,
Because it took too long your way.
I tried to give with all my heart,
You wanted me to give your way.
I gave regardless both your way and mine,
It still wasn't good enough for you.
I wanted to learn and grow with you
You just wanted me to do it your way.
I did learn and I did grow
But I did it without you,
While you were too busy making sure,
I did it your way.

I can do it your way
I don't really mind

If you're strong
But sometimes get it all
With all my heart
I wish you the best
as you head off
to make your way
Gone are the days
when you needed me
when we laughed

Your way is aggressive,
Aimed at achieving enormous success,
Late nights and early mornings,
Little time for rest.
