"Seventeen and Seduced"

Solemn on my bed
I sat
And told my journal
A thousand tales of
Love.

Seventeen and starving.
Seventeen and sad.
I wanted to hear his
Voice
Every second
Of everyday.

I remember when my tears
Would smear my words, page after page,
And I couldn't help
But to stare at it as
If it were some sort of
Tweenage art form.
My creative writing teacher
Would frown at the drowned assignment,
As I scribbled his name
On my notebook.

Sometimes, he would call.
But he didn't ask about how many terms I'd coined
To describe my love for him.
He didn't ask about my day,
Or tell me that if he didn't see
Me soon his heart would just
Stop
Beating.
No.
He boy-toyed with my heart,
And, oh, I fell for his sweet nothings
The very first time.

Seventeen and seduced,
I cried for days,
Out of shame and pain
And all I wanted was for
Him to rescue me from my life!

Seventeen and stupid,
I did it again,
So many times I decided I liked it.
Some people thought I was crazy,
And I was, for him.

Seventeen and sorry,
The last time he kissed my
Cheek and left me to cry
Myself into a grown up.
