She came running to me
Over the sand she bounced
Jumping and leaping into the air
I whistled
She pushed harder
Her paws digging into the crushed shells
She skidded to a stop at my feet
Her eyes full of wonder
At me

and though we were less than fifty steps away,
sitting in our cubicles,
reading our texts,
erasing
Wonderful.
I feel wonderful,
waking with the
tangerine sky.
Each day,
I am welcomed
by the comfort
in your eyes;
the warmth
