Poetry: Don't ask

My hair is tussled
Knotted and messed
Haven't yet found the time
To get myself dressed

The big baggy t-shirt
I slept in last night
Has been the days apparel
What a stunning sight

A sink full of dishes
Washed and dried
The loads of laundry
I could have cried

There's more to be done
I vacuum and dust
They want pie for dessert
I have to make crust

Scrub the toilet
Mop the floors
Wipe the fingerprints
Off the doors

Clean the oven
Spic and span
Replace the bulb
In the ceiling fan

Make the windows
Squeaky clean
Pick up all the toys
That can be seen

Polish the silver
He bought me as a gift
Sometimes that man
Isn't too swift

The house is clean
Everything glimmers
Now it's time
To start making dinner

Into the house
He walks in
Face adorned
With a grin

He asks, what did you do today
My reply, Don't ask, just go away

Looking to find the right words,
for a comforting thing to say.

Don't ask why things bother me

    Stranded between rooms,
    the admission hit us like
    colliding trees

struck down by an unseen hand.

    "Who, then?"
    I repeated,
    as if
