roles they are qualified for, but rooting the club at the heart of its community would be a good way to ensure the long term security of the club, and instill a level of local pride in the community.

Returning to the MyFootballClub and Ebbsfleet United scenario, I am sure there are many longstanding fans of Ebbsfleet United who were devastated the day they found out their beloved club was to be invaded by a bunch of jonny-come-latelys looking to enhance the reality of their soccer experience. Prior to the decision to let MyFootballClub on board, the people who ran Ebbsfleet, in their wisdom decided to change the name of the club from Gravesend and Northfleet, a famous Non League Club, to Ebbsfleet, just because the town was to gain a Eurostar terminal of the same name! It beggars belief.

Fans of other clubs touted as potential investments of MyFootballClub no doubt breathed a collective huge sigh of relief when they realized they had escaped this invasion of outsider Internet fans. Football fans of all clubs beware though, maybe this is the future of football club ownership, for a small fee anyone would be able to choose to own a club in a different timezone, that they know absolutely nothing about. The only way to stop this is for fans to get involved with their local club that they have been a long time supporter of to mutually protect the interests of genuine fans like themselves.
