Miami during spring break

Miami is one of the best hot spots for spring break. People flock south in droves to enjoy the sun and sand of Miami's beaches.

This is one of the most crowded times of year in Miami, with college students visiting from all over the country. So if you want to take a trip to Miami for spring break, your best bet is to plan early. Most hotels will be full around the March and April months. In order to get the best deal, it is good to rent early.

It's also good to rent with a lot of people so it's cheaper. Hotels can be expensive so if you rent with a large group for a week, you won't be spending too much. Another good way to save is to rent right on the beach to avoid transportation costs. The farther you are from where you want to go, the more you will spend getting there while you're in town. So even if it seems like getting a hotel room by the beach is much more expensive, you'll end up saving in the long run. Buses are crowded and not all that reliable. And don't even think about getting a cab. Contrary to what most big cities are like, cabs in Miami are few and far between and you'll get charged an arm and a leg for a 10 minute trip.

Another problem relating to overcrowding in the spring time is that the beach itself is really crowded. A lot of people like to go to South Beach, more specifically south point, where the beach ends. If you're actually driving because you rented a car or because you drove down, finding parking to get to the beach will be an absolute nightmare. The best thing to do is drive up along the beach until you get to where it's less crowded. You'll be able to find parking and you'll probably have more room to sprawl out in the sand.

The beach neighborhood is vast, but you can walk around to all the shops, restaurants and boutiques that are right by the water. You can also enjoy the nightlife in this area with many clubs and bars that dot the beach. You should be warned that going out and drinking in Miami is probably more expensive than you're used to. Cover can be a lot and after one or two drinks, you could be out $50 in twenty minutes.

If you budget correctly and you plan accordingly, you'll have a wild spring break. Miami is a great city to enjoy for a week. So get your bathing suit and suntan lotion and head to the beach!
