The cool silver moon
Hangs uncertainly in the sky,
Announcing the arrival of the liquid night,
Which pours over the horizon,
Touching the restless city
With an immaculate smoothness.
The monotonous lapping of distant waves
Seems nearer now,
As though Nature`s muscles are working harder
To sustain life,
A soothing undefined lullaby
Amongst the debris
Of frustrated dreams.
Shadows cast across walls,
In unknown streets,
Multiply like the lies surrounding them,
Whilst Time slithers around the neighbourhood,
Engrossed in a sinister plot.
The moon aches, but persists through the lonely hours,
Connecting dreams,
Touching the Earth with her passionate embrace,
Bringing hollow comfort to tender hearts.
Couples walk along the harbour wall,
Accompanied by the gentle sucking of the ocean,
A perfect backdrop to the enchanted moment,
Which will never be forgotten.
They pledge their hearts forever,
And blemish the perfect night
With their painful innocence,
Frustrating the present,
With their wilful deceit,
Spiking the stale consciousness of the past.
Insanity burns bright, tonight,
And the moon can only look on...
