Action for the 2007-08 National Basketball Association (NBA) season for the Charlotte Bobcats franchise began in May of 2007, when after a disappointing 2006-07 season came to an end, Sam Vincent was announced as the replacement to Bernie Bickerstaff as head coach.
On the 31st of May, another major appointment took place in Charlotte, with Rod Higgins hired as General Manager. However, despite his hiring, team part-owner Michael Jordan still retained full control over basketball operations.
Phil Ford, Lee Rose and Buzz Peterson were all soon hired as assistants, and all was in readiness for the franchise to go forward at the 2007 NBA Draft.
At the draft, the Bobcats selected Brandan Wright with the eight selection overall. Wright was then on-traded to Golden State for Jason Richardson and Jermareo Davidson.
Soon after, the Bobcats made another big signing, resigning Gerald Wallace to a multi-million dollar six-year contract.
Going into the season, the Bobcats lost Sean May and Adam Morrison to long-term injuries.

By the end of the month, they were 11-18 and looking down the barrel.
On the 14th of December, the Bobcats made some noise in the trading arena, acquiring center Nazr Mohammed from Detroit, for Walter Herrmann and Primoz Brezec.
On-court, things didn't improve in the new year for Charlotte, as further inconsistency saw them go 7-10 for the month of January.
On the last day of January, the Bobcats signed point guard Earl Boykins, the shortest player in the NBA currently, in an attempt to booster their depth at point guard.
