Poetry: Morning meditations

by Kitty Murphy

Created on: April 27, 2008

Purple mist gathers in the cool morning light.
The dampness of it envelops me
The microscopic drops caress my face
Leaving behind a wetness that certainly bears life.

Bacon fries.
The scent carried on a soft breeze
to a hungry growling stomach
The mist holds the fragrance
Of bacon
And damp summer earth and creek water
A turtle,

Beneath the surface, lurks
Waits
For the tiny darting bugs to land
A fish leaps ahead
Breaks the glassy surface
Ditches in line, the bug, now breakfast.

I inhale the taste
Damp soil, alive with spring
My heart swells with the fullness of it all
My mind
Senses all things alive
I am a part of the water, the earth,
the fish and the mist.
Oh the Quiet, peaceful morning...

The creek
Flows gently past, carries with it
Bacon and turtles and flies, quiet and peace.
My mind too flows, alert, alive
Yet at this sacred moment in time
Seeks nothing more than,
The mist.
