Poetry: Two hearts

by April Self

Created on: April 27, 2008

Entertwined, threaded together two strands of life,
chosen for each other, husband and wife.
Rings adjoined not only at the fingers but at the heart,
blessings that only someone heavenly could impart.

Two hearts bonded forever written before birth,
their souls were meant for each other on this earth.
Beating, living, breathing together as one.
Until the journeys of their lives are done.

Starting at as young in love,
the truth written in heaven above.
Becoming more a part of each other every day,
loving and living until they are old and grey.

I can see an older couple holding hands in a park taking a stroll,
even though with wrinkles and age spots time has taken it's toll.
But the fondness and contentment that glows in their eyes,
time's effect can never disguise.

That's what one day I hope to be,
that the woman in the park will be me.
When finally I meet my other half, my other part,
joined together forever, heart to heart.
