One of the great wonders of the world is indeed Niagara Falls and is the corridor for Canada's gateway to Toronto and Northern Ontario.
Niagara Falls attracts over 20 million visitors a year from all over the world and has the most spectacular views of the Falls which cascade water from Lake Erie down the Niagara river through the rapids and into Lake Ontario. The Niagara River which connects the two lakes has 22 miles of scenic views starting at Fort Erie near Buffalo.
The Niagara Parkway road on the Canadian side runs along side the River up to Queenston Heights and arrives finally at Niagara-on-the-Lake which is a posh upscale quaint village.
Niagara Falls tourist district is Clifton Hill which offers children and adults every imaginable amusement possible within walking distance of the American Falls.
Attractions such as Ripley's Believe it or Not, Rainforest Cafe, The Canadian Midway, SkyWheel, Dinosaur Park, Ghost Blasters and the Movieland Wax Museum to name a few will entertain your kids for hours.
The Maid of the Mist boats travel right up to the mighty Falls for a modest fair to see the power and force of the water that falls into the lower part of the river.
Tourists are all given raincoats as this is a up close and personal look at the waterfalls which delights both young and old and this boat tour is a must do for everyone.
The Butterfly Museum and Niagara Falls Aviary offers indoor tropical gardens and wildlife and is open daily and 8 other Museums from the Niagara Aerospace Museum to the historical or Geological Museum.
There are six observation towers to view the Falls from the sky the tallest being the Skylon Tower which rises to a height of 520 feet above the Falls with a fabulous revolving dining room.
Helicopter rides are available for those who love aerial views further up the river with 9 minute or 20 minute flights over the river and falls. The Parkway leads north into Niagara-on-the -Lake which is an old historically significant town near Fort George. Niagara-on-the-Lake offers superb live theater productions at the Shaw Theater Festival and upscale hotels, bed &breakfast inns and fine dining restaurants.
The Pillar and Post, The Buttery, The Angel Inn, and Queens Landing are all examples of excellent restaurants and accommodations fit for Queen Elizabeth II on her stay many years ago. There is a wonderful shop where you can watch fudge being made and the perfume of chocolate infuses the air.
