Walking and running are both excellent exercises for fitness. Running and walking have many health benefits but it is important to consult your doctor before you start running. Running is an intensive sport and may possibly be a wrong choice if you suffer certain diseases. For example some health problems such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes or joint problems can affect the ability to run. In these circumstances it may be better to choose for walking instead of running.
When you are in good health running can help you to burn calories faster instead of walking but you can do both and enjoy the benefits of each exercise. Your fitness condition is also important how long you should exercise. Someone in good condition needs to run longer than someone in bad condition. The reason is quite simple; if you have to do fewer efforts you need to exercise longer for burning the same calories.
If you want to keep your joints healthy, walking can be a much better exercise for you. Walking requires fewer efforts of your joints and muscles and can be a better sport if you want to avoid injuries. Walking is also easier to incorporate in your daily life; everyone walks from time to time. You can avoid driving with your car for short distances and walk to the shops for your purchases. It is also a better exercise if you recover from an injury.
