Television

The boob tube lures you in,
fuzzes down your neuronal signals.
Input received, clone response out.
Its hypnotic intensity mesmerizes,
zapping nerve cells at every synapse
through your remotely controlled corpse.
A good ole' neural spring cleaning
does the body good?
Burns me outTunes me off
Magnetizing your surroundings,
its eerie radioactive glow
and low-frequency buzz
serve to subtly distract
while suctioning every
independent meme
out of the waif-thin
epithelial membranes
silkily robing your skull.
Now you're ready
(dare I say eager?)
to be mercilessly reprogrammed,
transformed into a meta-consumer,
a witless trained social monkey.
Blatant mind control from our friends
in the strange and deranged TV game,
the same power-starved lobbyists
manipulating the government
and all other communication outlets
with brainwashing potential
to draw in the disillusioned
