Presidential Elections 2008

Senator McCain: Not my choice for president

John McCain is my choice for president, and if you look at who may be running against him, what other choice is there? Barack Obama is too inexperienced and liberal to capture the majority of the vote from middle America, and Hillary Clinton is....well, she's Hillary Clinton, the candidate who changes her views depending upon her audience.(Is she wearing a Yankee cap today?)

Some have said McCain is too old. How ridiculous. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1958, and became a naval aviator serving his country with courage, and showing himself to be a true leader in every sense of the word. Who could possibly knock John McCain's patriotism or his ability to lead? He was elected to the senate in 1987 and became a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Commerce Committee, and the Indian Affairs Committee. His credentials go on and on, and he's clearly the best choice, given the alternatives.

We live in a free society because of men like John McCain, and because of the sacrifices that men like McCain have made. He is strong on national defense, which I feel should be the first priority of the president, and he also is an independent and free thinker, someone who will not be swayed by the latest polls. He is considered by many to be a maverick, but then most great leaders are. That's why they're leaders. They don't follow the crowd, they lead the crowd.

Nobody is forcing anyone to vote for John McCain. We have a free and open society, and a person should vote for whomever they feel is the best candidate, and that's the way it should be. It's part of what makes this the greatest nation on the planet. It's one of the reasons that John McCain was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for this country, the "right to choose". All that can be asked of the American public is that they think about each candidate before they vote, even if it means crossing party lines to vote for the candidate with the best qualifications.

I come from a family composed mostly of registered democrats, and I too have voted for democratic candidates in the past, but I think that this is one of those elections where I will vote for a republican. I see no alternative. The democrats seem to have drawn a blank, and John McCain is clearly the best choice for this country.
