The Top Ten Helpful Websites to Visit When You are Starting a Blog

If you have never had a blog before, it is a lot harder than you might think to get one up and running and to attract readers. I know because I just started my first blog about a week ago. http://www.walkinthewords.blog spot.com

Since I have spend the majority of this week figuring things out, I thought I would save you some time by listing the ten websites that were most helpful to me.

1. http://www.blogger.com This site is where you create your blog for free. They provide templates and pretty much everything you will need to get your blog started.

2. https://www.google.com/adsense Sign up for an adsense account so you can make some extra income while you have fun blogging.

3. www.socialmarker.com This site helps you submit your blog to numerous social networking sites at once.

4. http://technorati.com Another social networking site that helps you ping (notify other sites) anytime you have updated your blog.

5. http://www.lifetips.com/servic es/web-content-development.htm l Some great SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tools to make your site search engine friendly.

6. www.google.com/trends Tells you what keywords people are searching for on a daily basis, ranked by popularity.

7. http://tips-for-new-bloggers.b logspot.com/2007/09/submit-blo gger-sitemap-to-msn-and.html An outstanding blog directed at new bloggers. Gives detailed and illustrated instructions on how to many important things to promote your new blog.

8. http://addthis.com Allows you to add a widget on your site so people can bookmark it as one of their favorites thus promoting more traffic.

9. http://www.xomba.com Post a social bookmark ( a Xomblurb) to point out interesting websites and blogs and point out your own blog. Also a great place to start making some on-line friends who have a common interest in blogging and are very supportive.

10. http://www.ehow.com Numerous "How to" articles that can answer just about any questions you have about setting up your blog and optimizing it. Another great place to make on-line friends.
