The Spirit
I remember when I first met him
I think I was seven or eight
Me and my friend Nelly In the church grounds we played
I could hear the choir singing excitedly and loud
I became as curious as a cat ran in and sat down
The preacher talked about the ultimate surrender
And a man named Jesus Christ
But when he talked about the spirit
That's when I ran out
Went out into the darkness as fast as I could run
I yelled goodbye to Nelly I was going home
His love mercy and grace I didn't get to choose
His spirit followed me no matter where I roamed
I lived my life happily never follow rules
Until I found myself hurting and feeling all alone
Now being fourteen was such pain I didn't want to live
Until a friend asked me to go to church with him
And what do you think happened as I walked through the church doors
Adib Eden was asking if anyone wanted to accept Jesus Christ as Lord?
My heart within started burning, what anybody saw I didn't care
I had to run in a hurry give my life right there
