Poetry: The jungle

The Jungle
Monkeys swinging from the trees
Soon you'll see few of these
Ocelot and Jaguar's have beautiful spots
But man will kill them for their dots
Snakes that slither to and fro
Hide in water to avoid man's eyes
But greedy men will find a way
To butcher an Anaconda for its hide
With blood money; rich men pay
So they can have a trophy to display
As we kill these animals one by one
Do we realize what we've done?
But don't stop there
Man's not done
Iron jungles stone and cold
Will crop up where tall trees once stood
Avarice, avarice is so good
Men line their pockets with pure gold
But what price will they pay?
When along comes judgment day
God gave us the jungle as a gift
A splendor that left us in awe
A beautiful sight to behold
We should be ashamed and hand our heads
For what will leave for Him to find
An iron jungle that has no vines
