Should dodgeball be allowed in schools?

Dodgeball has to be one of the most violent sports being taught to our youth, and there is no reason why it should be stopped. Kids have been playing dodgeball for years now and nothing bad ever happened to them except a few cuts and burses.

Ask any parents about dodgeball and they will be able to remember playing the game in school with their friends and having a good time. Those few parents who didn't enjoy the experience of dodgeball are the same parents that are trying to take the game away from the youth of today.

It's understandable why those parents want the game to be taken away, their afraid their child will be hurt, but why? A child is just as likely to get hurt playing dodgeball as going out onto the field and playing soccer, a big youth sport around the world. Just think of all the sprained ankles, cuts and burses the kids come how with after playing soccer.

Along with the cuts and burses that come with soccer, you can't forget about all the headers in the game. If kids aren't properly coached in how to take a header there are the possibility of minor head injuries to possible concussions

Dodgeball on the other hand is a head free sport, when teachers give the rules to dodgeball it is always aim for the chest down. Keeping away from the head means no major injuries will occur and everyone will only walk away with burses, if that.

If you want to eliminate burses from the school all together you need to remove all forms of fun from the campus. Many students have gone home with burses from coming off the slide to hard, or being hit to hard while playing tag. If your take away any activity that might hurt a child you are left with sitting at a desk listening to a teacher talk, and hopefully your child won't get any paper cuts.

Parents need to realize their kids are going to get hurt no matter what they do. They send their kids off to soccer practice where there is a chance of them always getting hurt, but that's ok why?

Dodgeball is like any other game player on a school campus, its fun and you might get hurt. If you take away everything that might be harmful to the kids, your might always tell them its illegal to have fun.
