The first time I ever sang in front of public by myself was probaly one of the most memorable nightts in my entire life. I used to sing all the time in front of my mother when I was a child, but the first time I ever stood up and sang in front of a whole crowd was when i was eighteen years old. I was actually at a club with my friends on a kareoke night but I didn't know it. That night I has having fun with my friends, dancing and hanging out, doing the normal things teennagers would even do. The club I went to had two floors. The first floor was where the kareoke was happening and the second floor was where all the dancing and other stuff was happening.
I was in chorus for ten years but I never did any solo's or anything but I love to sing and I always have since I was like two years old. I never had that confidense to be in front of a crowd bymyself. The night at the club on kareoke night changed my life. I was on the first floor watching all the girls and guys kareoking. They sang songs all from different kinds of genres of music. Some was rock, rap and even some country. They looked like they had so much fun doing it even if they didn't sound that great. The one thing I have noticed as I was looking around was that everybody was being so supportive for one another. My friend Amanda and Chrissy actually talked me into just singing one song. It took them a while to get me to do it.
So I slowly walked to the DJ and simply asked him where or how do I sign up to sing a song. He gave me a slip of paper and a menu of all the song's he has that I could choose from. So on the slip, I wrote my name and the song I chose was "Everything I do I do it for you" By Bryan Adams. It was and still is one of my most favorite songs. So I was just standing around with Amanda and Chrissy with my heart beat beating so fast. I felt knots in my stomach and I was just so nervous. I kept telling myself not to back out.
Out of no where I heard the DJ call my name. It was my turn to step up to the mic. I kept telling myself "This is finally a chance for me to really want to sing". I was shaking so bad. I walked to the DJ to take the microphone and he said "Don't worry, just have fun". I think he knew I was nervous. They had the lyrics on a large television set even though I knew all the words, I kept looking at it just incase I some how mess up.
As the introduction of the song started, my heart began to even beat faster than ever. The lights were all going around with a huge light on me. I was so afraid of so many things. I took a deep breath and just let it go. I started to sing my favorite song in front of like 200 people. As I started singing I realized that everybody was waving back and forth, some were dancing together and it made me feel really good inside. I was still really nervous but as I was looking around, I saw my cousin I haven't seen in a long time. I was so happy I just kept looking at her when I was singing. I wasn't scared about losing my lyrics or anything. I just felt like I had a lot more confidence in myself. So I sang through the rest of the song and as soon as I was finished, I had so many people clapping and applauding and wanted me to sing more. I wasn't sure if I was ready for that so I took a break. Everybody even strangers that I didn't know told me I did such a great job and they want me to come back next kareoke night. I have met at least twenty new friends. It was great to finally have that experience I always wanted. It just took a lot of courage to go up there and do it but I did it. I was so proud of myself as all my friends were. Me and my cousin spent the whole night just talking and hanging out and had a great time. It was one of the most memorable nights in my life.
