Last April I was diagnosed with cancer, and I asked myself Why God Why? So many different times. I couldn't see the good things that could come out of cancer the way I do now. It's alright for us to ask God why, that is part of what makes us human. Asking God why enables us to focus our attention on why something happens. I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 24, I couldn't understand why God would allow me to go through something like that at such a young age.
Proverbs 25: 2-3 tells us "It is God's privilege to conceal things and the King's to discover them. No one can discover the height of Heaven, the depth of the earth or all the goes on in
the king's mind." Whys and constant unanswerable questions can lead to us doubting God. The whys can become more damaging to a our relationship with God. One thing we do need to keep in mind is that we may never know the answer to our why questions. Sometimes if we just let go of the "whys" we may be able to see a silver lining and something good could come from this experience. We try to find an answer for everything and anything that happens to us, and Proverbs tells us we can't always have the answers we want. May be when we let go of trying to find the answers in our time, God will reveal them to us in His time.
Only God knows why something happens when it happens and we need to understand that we can never fully understand why they do. One day we will find out why God allows numerous things to happen. The story of Job tells us of a man who was blameless and Satan struck down by causing him to lose his children, cattle, and by causing him to be sick. All of his questioning and why's lead to bitterness which lead to him believing that God was an unfair God. Constantly wondering why can only lead to us doubting what God can do within our lives. and what is is capable of doing with all the bad things that do happen within our lives.
But as humans we naturally ask But Why God, sometimes we get the answer other times we don't. We never know when the answer will come, we just need to say "Ok God what next, where will you lead me and give me strength to make it through."
