You share with me life's simple joys
Your smile, your laughter better still
The way you are with our beamish boys,
indulging them against your will
A long days work and still you find
the patience to coach, to teach, to guide
Sometimes firm, but always kind
Helping them grow with every stride
Homework or fishing, a long weekend hike
without hesitation you're father and friend
Drying their tears when they fall from their bike,
reassuring so they try it again.
You apologize for what we don't have
and my heart aches that you can't see
The most wonderful gift that you can give
is everything that you are to me.
Even just this thought of you
can still make my heart skip it's beat.
You still take my breath away
you make my very life complete
