No, the children of prisoners will not be likely to commit crimes if they are helped by mentors. I think that no matter who our parents are, it doesn't matter one bit whether they were criminals or just your average, normal, law abiding person. It just matters on how the child is raised. If the child is raised by prisoner parents, they may see through the mistakes of the parents and be a good person, or they may choose to follow in their parents' footsteps. The choice is theirs, nobody else's, to be good or bad. If a person is raised by a law abiding family instead of the parents then they still have equal opportunity to be good or bad. Say the family is abusive, then it would be more than likely that the child would be a criminal, or an emotionally-for-life scarred good kid. It all depends on how the child is raised, the environment the child is raised in, and the choices of the child makes further on in their lives after they leave the home. You may think that you are raising them right if you are abusive you'd think you are "disciplining" your child, but all you are doing is making them feel hatred and anger towards other people and you. If you treat them with kindness and respect like they deserve, they will treat you with equal kindness and respect. Also, many people yell at their kids for the dumbest things and that is a bad choice of that parent to make. No offense, but the more you yell at your child, the more they are going to want to rebel against your authority. The more rules you set, and I know parents set a lot because they care for the child's safety, but they don't and it makes them angrier and more prone to violence and crime. Parents need to listen to their kids and do stuff they want kids to immitate. As long as they have good real role models, and less violent television, the more likely the child is to immitating your actions. So don't do things like lying and smoking and drinking, for the children will immitate your example and do those things too. So, all in all, children can be influenced to be criminals, but they are not born criminals. It all depends on the actions of child and the examples they are given.
