Tips for scrapbooking your wedding memories

How do you remember your wedding? Do you simply walk down memory lane by gazing upon that beautiful gown hanging dustily in your closet, or do you take out the photo album and admire your wonderful Wedding photographs - ones of your friends and family all closely gathered, all celebrating the most beautiful day of your life. Well, it's time to get these images into a place in which they shine for what they really are, and not just in a plain old album!

Memories are all well and good, but like anything else will fade with age and be lost as we eventually can no longer visualize our favourite days with such Technicolor as they once were. Creating a scrapbook of your Wedding Day not only preserves these vivid memories, but also houses them for future generations to enjoy.

A good Wedding Scrapbook can either be planned or spontaneous, as most brides tend to keep things from their big day regardless of whether they plan to use them or not! Things like invitations, pressed flowers, table decorations, napkins, wedding vows, corsages, and photos of your big day can create a wonderful centerpiece in your scrapbook collection and is a staple all to its own.

One of the most important things to remember is preservation. Always keep doubles (or triples) of your Wedding photos just in case things go wrong with a creative scrapbooking attempt, whether you may spill something on it, cut it wrong, or it simply discolors over time. Always use acid free materials as these will keep your photos looking just as lovely as the day in which they were taken. Acid free glue, paper, and page protectors are available in almost any scrapbooking or craft & hobby store.

Was there a particular theme that your wedding followed? Perhaps it was an Autumn wedding or you based the reception area around a few specific colors. Either way, adopting your wedding theme and incorporating them into your scrapbook is a great way to create a vivid visualization of your Wedding atmosphere. Memories will come flooding back just seeing that lovely combination of lavender and white, again!

Pressed flowers and faux-flower embellishments make great partial borders for pictures, as well as a lovely focal point to a page. Get creative with a little bit of ink and a fountain pen. Calligraphy and script make wonderful accompaniments to an elegant Wedding scrapbook and give it a very flowing transition between pages. Adding descriptions below, above, or beside pictures may aid in the remembering process, and don't let you forget who specifically accompanied you on your Wedding Day.

A lot of scrapbooking shops have sections catered directly to wedding scrapbooking, so your possibilities are endless. Ribbons, pearl strands, bride & groom stamps, wedding inscriptions, and angelic borders are a great way to embellish your photos. Different edged scissors such as soft scallops and curly waves make great borders and headings and add texture to an otherwise boring piece of paper.

Unless your wedding theme was bright and funky, the traditional white with a soft pastel color often works wonders for your Wedding pages. These scrapbooks tend to be a tad bit more conservative and elegant then a day at the beach, but that doesn't mean they have to be boring. Look around for the perfect embellishments to complete your scrapbook, as this will probably be the most memorable book you will ever create. Remember to take your time and think creatively, as you will one day reflect upon your big day as you open the pages and admire that beautiful bride and groom, again!
