There is always the first time for everything. That includes singing karaoke. I love to sing, however, that happened when I was a little girl staying home alone. It was after school, and I found myself gotten bored even with tons of homework were waited to be done. I watched TV. I took my nap. I searched movies to watch. In the midst of searching, I browsed through the video CDs of songs. They were mostly oldies, and my heart had started to sing the song of every title I glanced. Instead of choosing movies, I went for singing. I have never known what it was like to sing while looking at the lyrics provided on the screen. I found it fascinating. Since I love to sing, I made this a chance to let my soul out. I grabbed a bottle to pretend that was a microphone, and then chose a song.
I could not really comprehend the feeling I was having over that moment. It was a mixture of happy, exciting, bizarre, and fascinating. Probably from this karaoke lesson, I learned to listen to the beats, and learned how to enter the song. That is how my first encounter on singing karaoke started. Every day after school, I would turn on the karaoke video, and started to sing. I did not care if I sounded bad. I tried to manage myself and learned to listen to my own voice too. It was funny how a karaoke singing session could make me. Sometimes, when I had the chance, I would ask my mother to buy a few more karaoke music videos. It felt like a new addiction to me. I just want to sing!
As much as an addiction to me, I never sang karaoke in public and definitely not a chance in front of the crowd. Although, I may have discovered myself for being able to sing, I have yet to encounter my discomfort of shyness. However, after knowing the fun that karaoke provides, I learned more than just singing.
Being able to discover karaoke while home alone, I realized how much fun I would gain if I have someone to share with. I learned that karaoke keep closer bond between friends and family, and in social circle. I have learned to build my confidence. When nightlife entertainment grows bigger, karaoke joined. Even though not everyone was able to sing sweetly, but in the end, everybody knows how to sing. Whether karaoke is to bring joy, allow everyone to learn about sharing, or to help keep anger and stress away; karaoke is not bad for society at all.
It will be hard to forget the feeling of crave, excitement, and how fascinating on encountering my first time singing karaoke.
