"My parents divorced when I was ten years old. My father started seeing Kathrynn about five months after he left my mother. A lot of people were saying that she was the reason that my father left us. That he was unhappy with my mother because she worked all of the time. They both work a lot, but he works more than she does. We are lucky to see him once a week.He is always gone before we get up in the morning and is never home before we go to bed at night. These people were also saying that the only reason he stayed around as long as he did was for us kids. It was also said that he was having an affair with Kathrynn and that is why he brought her into the picture so soon after the divorce." I told Dr. Lynch, the psychiatrist my parents had our entire families talking to.
"Did you believe them?" Dr. Lynch asked me, looking up from the notepad she had been writing on.
"Who?" I asked looking up at her," Oh, you mean our gossip-crazed neighbors and my parent's so-called friends. Back then I didn't listen that much to what anybody was saying. "I'm not as naive as I was back then Dr. Lynch. I don't think that my father and Kathrynn had an affair." I told her, trying to control my anger," I know that they had an affair."
Dr. Lynch put down her glass of water before even taking a drink. She began searching my face to see if I was lying. I wasn't lying and she knew it. I quickly looked away so she couldn't see the tears forming in my eyes. Don't cry Cassidy, I told myself. You are so much stronger than this. You have come way too far to lose it all now. I closed my eyes and took a long, deep breath to regain my composure. I slowly looked over at Dr. Lynch, she had folded her hands on her desk and was smiling at me.
"It's okay Cassidy, we don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. We can talk about something else if you would like to." Dr. Lynch told me with a smile.
"No, it's okay Dr, Lynch. We don't have to change the subject. This is why
