Poetry: Second chance

The Toy
Once there was a little boy.
Who stumbled through his day.
He had to find a little toy.
So it could light his way.
You see his world was cold and dark.
With nothing ever right.
And that is why the toy he sought.
Would need to have a light.
And then one day an object.
Fell to him from the sky.

It landed just in front of him.
That's how it caught his eye.
So he picked up this object.
That suddenly he'd found.
But he thought it was no use to him.
So then he tossed it down.
But then the object changed its shape.
To something that was round.
It followed him and kept the pace.
By rolling across the ground.
It tapped him from behind.
And got his attention then.
So like before,he picked it up.
To study it again.
But this time he noticed.
Something new to him.
A very tiny hint of light.
Shinning deep within.
So he put his little hands.
Around this thing he'd found.
Realizing that for him this object,
Changed itself to round.
Then a burst of I luminance.
Shot from the tiny ball.
It lit his heart, it lit his world,
Till no dark remained at all.
Now the two of them are Inseparable.
This little ball and him.
The moral is, with a second chance.
You just might find a friend.

The End
