Tips for balancing a busy life

Do you ever dread getting up in the morning, knowing that you are going to be facing an endless day of running here and there, dropping the kids off, picking the kids up, stores, food, sports, demand after demand?

Don't you wish that you could just every once in awhile, say, "NO"

Then, why don't you?

"I can't just say NO, because if I don't do it, it won't happen." you say to yourself. "Things that need to get done, just won't get done. I can't stop, I just need to figure out how to get better at doing everything I need to do."

This is wrong thinking. You can stop, but first you have to recognize that the problem is that you think too highly of yourself. It's all about how you see yourself. No, makes people unhappy sometimes. No, makes you feel bad, when you have to say it.

Life too busy? You have the power to change it, but first you have to cease seeing yourself as the center of the universe, the glue that holds everything together. You may have placed yourself on a pedestal, and the thoughts of having to pass the steering wheel back to the ones who are doing all the driving, may worry you. You might think that you are not quite as crucial as you thought you were, that maybe, just maybe, you aren't as badly needed after all.

If you are like most, you want to please everybody. You want everyone to think highly of you, from your kids, to your spouse, to your employer. So you go, go, go....making sure everyone has everything they need, but at your expense. Of course then you can feel like you are sacrificing your own well being for others, and this again makes you feel better about yourself.

Want to balance this incredibly busy life of yours? Begin by telling someone, "No." Begin by telling yourself first. Say, "No, I'm not going volunteer for the bake sale, because, I just don't want to." Oh, sure, it will sting when you think that others won't think as highly of you, and you may have to suffer through the fact that it will do just fine without you. But you'll live. And live better for it.

Sometimes, "No" to others, means "Yes" to your well being.

The tip to balancing a busy life, is just say, "No."
