He was staring at me from across the room. I couldn't help but look back. His eyes were icy blue but they weren't cold. They were inviting and familiar. It was as if I'd known him from something long ago. I felt kind of awkward but I couldn't break his gaze. Then he smiled. Finally I could turn away. I wonder if he noticed how red my cheeks were. I couldn't turn back around. I didn't want to see him... but I did. I liked having him around even if we barely talked. He had his friends and I had mine. We talked a little but hardly enough for him to actually be interested in me. "He must remember me from somewhere." I muttered to myself. "Maybe he's mistaking me for someone else." I tried to sink into my seat and stop imagining his beautiful eyes.
It's not like I came to this thing trying to pick up guys. I was at a Duke University weekend. I was studying Archetypes in Literature and Film over the weekend. I'm the type of person that usually thinks of guys maybe once a day but I couldn't get him out of my mind. Why was that? Did I know him from somewhere? "He's exactly how I pictured him." I thought. For a few weeks, maybe even months my friends Maddie, Sirena, and I had been writing a story. I was planning on working on some of it while I was here. How was I supposed to know one of the characters we had imagined would manifest itself here? He was the exact replica of my love interest in the story we were creating. As far as I know he wasn't as perverted as Jessie' probably didn't have the gargantuan ego either. But he was the picture in my head. "Lizzy, there's no way Jessie' is real." I chastised myself. I knew that, I'm not stupid, but I thought it was pretty funny though. I turned around. He was busy making towers with the random assortment of candy we had grabbed from a bag the teacher had passed out. "No," I thought, "he's much more handsome than anyone I could imagine." Suddenly I noticed he was staring at me again. "Are you having fun?" I asked sarcastically staring at the candy tower. "Yep," he smiled. I returned his smile and quickly turned around so he wouldn't notice me hyperventilating. His smile made me melt.
I looked at the candy tower I had finished building a few minutes earlier. I looked back at his and his friend David's towers. Both of their towers were much grander than mine. I did the best I could with what I had though. Being boys they had grabbed probably eight of my handfuls in their one. I slowly exhaled and tried to think of how I could
