Welcome to the jungle,
Inhibited, so true,
Where the call of the wild prevails,
The rules, in number, few.
Only the laws of nature,
Here to regulate,
Who survives, who will fall,
Who will meet their fate.
The mighty lion in his den,
The colorful birds perched high in the trees,
The monkeys stick out their tongues,
Chatter, chant, and tease!
Elk traveling in packs,
The young protected by the old,
Their horns, forever spiraling,
Their coats, a shiny gold.
The tiger stands by lazily,
Content to relax in the shade,
Yawning, stretching sleepily,
He knows he's got it made!
The bears within their caves,
Burrowed in their homes,
Their subtle grumbling growl,
Making their power known.
Fish circle in the sea,
Elegantly traveling within their schools,
Their camouflaged colors, their armor,
Perhaps their greatest survival tools.
Serpent intertwined in a knot,
Keeping his profile low,
Sizing up his surroundings,
Slithering oh so slow.
Each species so powerful,
But reliant upon the next,
Some predators, some prey,
But in the jungle, all lives intersect.
Only one war left to win,
Requiring all species to take a stand,
Defend what is theirs,
Protect their sacred land.
Their greatest battle still ahead,
That in which they must stand up to man,
Fight for the purity of nature that exists,
In this unadulterated land.
For we as man take control of space,
Thinking its ours to consume,
For other creatures - the minorities,
Leaving little room.
Perhaps within this world,
We ought to show some respect,
For man and animal alike,
Our lives do intersect.
A great toast offered to the jungle,
For remaining so in tact,
Now perhaps as man we should stop looking ahead,
And stop, turn around - go back.
