What the US is doing to help with rising gas prices

Oh, the answer to that is a simple one! Forgive me for being horribly cynical, but that's what invading Iraq was for!

OK, it was not really why we invaded Iraq, but I'm absolutely certain that it was accounted for when taking that fateful decision.

You see, more oil wells controlled means more oil being shipped back to the US (and probably the UK and others too, I'm not certain). This means that suppliers can reduce prices (slightly) while still making a very fat profit from the huge demand for gasoline and other derivatives of oil.

But you think you have it bad in the US? Try coming over to Britain.

I would also like to point out that "to help with rising gas prices" the US government ought actually to take some responsibility and start (or increase) taxation in order to make some small attempt at saving the planet. This will increase fuel prices obviously enough, and thus reduce consumption.

That's what public transport is for you see.
