It is a matter of perception. Each person is going to have their own opinions on whether they stand on one side of the circle or the other. Death can be looked at in a fearful or beautiful way. It can be looked down upon and dreaded, or death can be dismissed, and the life celebrated. But suicide is looked at differently, as if it were apart from death entirely.

My belief is that the life we have been given is a gift, and it is yours. Now, whether it is yours to keep or yours to take has been a matter of debate and discussion for centuries. Every culture has their own perception on suicide, and many of them are the same. That is, that suicide is a sin and that your time of death should be determined by God, Mother Nature, or another higher being. I do not believe that religion or faith should play a part in how we live or how we die, and that everyone is given the responsibility to life as an open ended opportunity and without positive or negative intention. It is each persons choice to do with their life what they will, and if that entitles them to take their own life than so be it.

Many centuries ago, the burial of a suicide victim was said to taint and poison the Earth around them. It is said that flowers will never grow on their grave, and this was most likely because superstition lead people to bury suicide victims in the coldest part of the cemetery, away from the sun and any warmth. By faith, they were shunned as sinners and condemned to an afterlife in hell. It was ancient superstition to also bury them at a crossroad so that if they were to return from the dead that they would not be able to find the right path home.

Nobody wanted to see them, and nobody wanted to remember them.

To banish someone from your memories because of faith, religion, or superstition seems preposterous to me. Personally, I feel that if there were a God that he would not condemn us to Hell if we did not as ask for forgiveness and warship him in a temple. I see it as more of a ploy for another method of control, and even if I did believe in him I would not want to join him in his kingdom if my life consisted of rules, control, and the threat of burning in Hells fires.

I am more empathetic than I am remorseful. I can put myself in somebodies shoes and try to understand exactly what they must feel or be going through at a specific time more-so than I can sit in a room and cry over somebody without thinking of why. People become upset only when their expectations haven't been
