Children's fashion trends have become just as important as adult fashions. Parents have discovered that they can express their own personal style not only through their own dress but also through their children. In 2008, we have seen that the fashion trends for children vary as much as each parent. For the parent who loves well known designer brand names, companies such as Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, DKNY, Burberry and House of Dior are now offering lines of clothing for kids. For parents who are concerned about the environment there are many companies now offering clothing made from organic cotton and fast growing bamboo. For rocker parents there is a large assortment of punk style clothing available. Screen printed T-shirts, playful skulls, stripes, camouflage and skinny jeans.

Celebrity parents such as Madonna and Angelina Jolie are inspiring other parents to dress their kids to impress. There are now numerous magazine articles and websites devoted to celebrity children's fashions. This has become a unique opportunity for designers of children's clothing. They will often send the celebrity parent samples of the clothing in the hopes that the child will be photographed wearing the item. Parents who follow the celebrity styles then go on to purchase these clothing items for their own children. Some celebrities have even decided to cash in on the desire to dress like a celebrity child by opening their own boutiques.

One of the biggest things we're seeing is right now is fashion trends for adults spilling over into the children's clothing lines. If it's a hot trend for adults you can expect to see it for children. Keep your eyes open for tons of screen printing, punk styles, graphic prints, animal prints and metallics. Fashion trends for adults have been carried over to children's clothing lines in light, playful ways. You can actually help your child stay ahead of the trends by scoping out whats hot for grownups and then "kidifying" them. What does that mean? Simply put kids fashions should be bright, cheery, colorful, comfortable and easy to care for. If zebra stripes are hot for adults then a pink zebra stripe hoodie will be super hot for a little girl. Most of all have fun with it and let your kids get involved in choosing clothing they love.
