Bungee jumping: Getting started

Are you a thrill seeker? Do you like that rush of adrenalin when you get scare? Well if so, why not bungee jumping? This is a "new age" extreme sport, full of excitement and little danger. If you are thinking about taking the plunge you might want to find out the basics before you go and get fitted for your harness.

The first thing you want to do is talk. Find some one that has done a jump or go online and find a blog or a forum for bungee jumping. Most people are really helpful and will be willing to answer any of your questions.

Second, watch. Find a video online of someone jumping, or talk to a sales representative at your local sporting goods store and see what they recommend. You may be able to go see an actual jump before yours.

Locations- you need to decide if you are going to jump around where you live or if you want to do it on a vacation. If you are doing on a trip, you want check and see if there are groups or companies that provide bungee jumping. You can check with your travel agent or at the front office of the hotel or resort you are staying at. Look into local bungee jumping when you plan your trip. This way you can reserve a time, and you won't miss out on the experience.

Find a company or group that does bungee jumping. You will want to find out about that company before you go and speak with them. Once you talk to them you will want to ask so basic questions. The person that will over seeing the jump, how many jumps have they done, them self? And how many have they overseen? These questions are essential. You want some body that has a lot of experience.

When you are given the instructions on how to jump and what to expect, feel free to ask questions. You want to make sure that all your questions are answered before you jump off of anything. This way you have a peace of mind and you can enjoy it.

Make sure that the instructor inspects your equipment thoroughly. This is a safety precaution.

Take a deep breath, and jump Don't panic. Remember, bungee jumping is one of the safest extreme sports there is. If you are worried because of shows you've seen on TV that show accidents, think about, a perfect jump doesn't make good television rating. So have fun, it is well worth your time.
