Adding your own special touch to your scrapbook pages is what makes them magical. Your own artistic flare can be very simple and make a bold statement.
I use several techniques for my own pages; here are a few examples;
1. Calligraphy to state the occasion and date
2. A hand drawn border
3. A fabric border.
4. Special markers to outline or drawn attention an event on the page.
5. Use no border but instead get detailed in the page with special shapes for the pictures and border them with a frame or use stickers or scraps from an event.
For example; If I go the beach with my family and want to scrapbook the occasion, then I would not only collect shells for my collection but also for my pages. I would also collect any thing small enough that would give the page more of its' own flare. Maybe a small piece of coral that washed up on shore. Anything that I can use to make my page stand I will.
Once I hike the mountains in North Carolina and I took a lot of pictures. During our hiking event I was picking up pine cones and rolls of bark. Certain leaves that fallen already had a beautiful color and were a nice addition.
On my Christmas pages I use small ornaments and mini garlands to decorate the page.
A friend's wedding is an event to give a beautiful gift that will be forever cherished. As our wedding gift a friend of mine had taken the invitation that was mailed to her and shadow boxed it with several little plagues that had beautiful sayings on them. For me it was especially a great gift because I spent month's hand making every invitation myself.
So remember if the event is something that you want to remember with a scrapbook page then get things to add to it. Craft stores have so much available now to embellish your work that it really makes events easy to do on pages. Your own personal touches will stand out to grace your pages even more. They show that extra bit of love and pride that went into the work.
