The government setting a national sexual consenting age, they are involved in so many of our private rights now that we need a permission slip it seems to talk, travela and express ourselves.

Setting a national age, would cause more problems then there is now. We as parents need to teach them how to be responsible and how to make good decisions, It is not the governments place to do this. We bring the children into the world and we should do the rearing.

Each state has an age that is legal for marriage, and some of them it is to young. in some states it is as young as 14. This therefore lets teens consent at the early age. Most teenagers are not physicaly or emotionaly ready even by nineteen. There are a few exceptions.

By letting the federal government get involved here we will be setting it up where , suppose the age is 16, anyone with a child of that age , even if they are not mentally old enough to handle the emotions that go with the act, are going to be able to consent.

If the government was allowed to do this, then there need to be a set of strict guidelines and no exceptions. Age of consent need s to be eighteen, and rules dealing with the mental aspects, provide therapy for those who the act caused great emotional distress. A clause addressing those who are not able mentally to make the dicision, then a guardian or advocate could interceed on their behalf and come up with a plan for the individual that would work.

It is for these reasons that there should not be interference from the government, for they are not going to agree to all the rules , health provisions, work and time it would eventually come to, just like other things they would lay it back on the individual. Therefore why even approach the subject.

Every state can make amendments to the state statuets to establish an age of consent, then put it before the people of the state in question, let the residents vote on it. This way the people would decide for themselves and not the government. Maybe this method would also work on the federal level, but it would have to encompass so many more regulations and take longer to get any feedback and help when needed.

The best thing is to do what parents and children have been doing for centuries, as a family, discuss the situation on each individule case and what is best for the person being discussed. Parents need to show the facts of life to their children. Sheltering them from everything only makes the child more curious about things they are not allowed to see or experience.

There are areas that children do not to see, that are for adults only, but hey do need to know what is going to be brought into their life by classmates, friends and other family members. Teach them first about the world , teach them how to be safe, make good decisions, help themselves be the best they can be and know that the first time is going to be even if they wait till older.

Letting the government get involved any deeper in our personl lives, making the decisions for us on more of our rights to our own body, is not a good idea. They are there enough already. Lets keep some things personal and make dgood decisions for ourselves.
