The reason men don't like to go to the doctor is that we don't like to be fondled unless it is leading up to moments of passion. Coughing while some bloke has a hold of the family jewels is not a moment of passion.
The only thing I can say about going to a doctor is that I prefer female doctors. If I have to be fondled, I want to enjoy it. But female doctors are hard to come across - usually because other females are taking up their valuable time with heart to heart girlie problems.
No one LIKES to go to the doctor, especially not men, because it is a show of weakness. We men can overcome anything. We are self-reliant and innovative. We can look after ourselves. To go to the doctor is an admission of our shortcomings. Going to the doctor is an admission that we can not handle the problem ourselves. In itself, it is not manly.
Sometimes, if you ignore a problem long enough, it will go away. This is a favorite man ploy not to go in the first place, secretly hoping the problem will resolve itself without any outside interference. When a man goes to a doctor, he is acknowledging that he is not superhuman, which every man aspires to be. It undermines the ego for a male to be seen in a doctor's office. It confirms that we are not as invincible as we would like to think we are.
I have been embarrassed in the doctors' waiting room by bumping into female friends. Out of politeness, I ask them, "Is everything okay?" which is a stupid question because if everything was okay they wouldn't be there. They often reply blushingly stating, "female problems". I will immediately turn the conversation to the weather or some other insignificant fact about global warming to not delve further into the complicated web of a woman's anatomy.
They will in turn, ask me, "Are you okay?"
"Pulled muscle" is my standard response. At least that sounds like I injured myself doing something masculine. You wouldn't say "Man troubles," now would you?
Which is where I started. If I have a problem above the naval, I don't mind who examines me. But, if we go below the belly button, I want a female practitioner. If I have to have my most intimate parts explored, it's at least more enjoyable if it is done by a member of the opposite sex.
In summary, men don't go to doctors because men do not want to be groped by other men. Recruit more women doctors and we will be in for a check up twice a month.
