Rain falling falling
falling dismal day
again. Clouds cast over
sun, light withheld, brilliance dulled.
Hope deferred denied destroyed
stone, eroded.
Worm guts smell, splattered
sidewalk, asphalt, porches -
bird food deli.
Lowly lose, flighted win.
Impenetrable sky, why
unending gray, unceasing drops, unrelenting
flood. Rainbow-less, soaked skin, slipping steps
washed unclean
in the deluge

Showers in Mexico
Cars on the cobblestone streets
emit gas into the humid air,
as the smell of salt lingers
from the nearby
When it rains the old man thinks
He see's slithers of silver,
Littering his garden path.
His elderly brain turns lightening
