Poetry: When it rains

by Jodi Wright

Created on: April 24, 2008

Rain falling falling
falling dismal day
again. Clouds cast over
sun, light withheld, brilliance dulled.
Hope deferred denied destroyed
stone, eroded.
Worm guts smell, splattered
sidewalk, asphalt, porches -
bird food deli.
Lowly lose, flighted win.
Impenetrable sky, why
unending gray, unceasing drops, unrelenting
flood. Rainbow-less, soaked skin, slipping steps
washed unclean
in the deluge
