Contact lenses or glasses? A personal decision at it's best. Sometimes, much to our dismay, our eye practitioners will inform us that we have no choice. Due to eye conditions such as dryness, glaucoma, cataracts, or a "goofy" eye shape. It's nice that we are able to have a choice if our eye health allows.
Glasses are nice for people that do not like pulling their eye lids up or down. For someone that likes a little fashion to compliment their face, eye glasses can be a fabulous addition. They come in rectangle, square, round, oval, frame-less, and other shapes that you can dream about. There's also many funky colors available. During my last visit to my eye practitioner I noticed lime green, burnt orange, true red, berry blue and even frames that looked like a rainbow. Another option with eye glasses is to have the lenses tinted, these are known as transition lenses. My husband wears these on a regular basis. It has taken him some time to get used to them, but does enjoy the flexibility that they give him. They are great out in the sun, but do take time to transition from different lighting.
I have worn contact lenses for more then thirty years. I have worn soft contact lenses that I had to boil each evening and also worn those that the solutions provided the "boiling" materials. I currently wear the soft contact lenses that I throw away every three weeks. They are not tinted. These also come in an array of colors, if you can dream of the color, it's available. They even have contact lenses that look like tigers, rainbows, and goofy eye ball settings. None of these have ever interested me. Somebody must buy them or they would not be available.
On my last eye appointment I was informed that I would be needing reading glasses soon. Just another reminder that this forty something life has lots of little pleasures ahead. I did glance through the rack of reading glasses at our local Walgreen's and noticed they do look kind of cool. They even had the "chains" that I recall the old folks wearing when they had glasses around their necks. I am a middle aged Mom that is beginning to realize that I will be an older age individual quicker then I would like.
I'm not sure how much longer I will wear contact lenses, but I do enjoy not seeing a frame around my vision line. I'm not sure if my eyes will stay healthy enough to continue wearing them. I have never been bothered by putting the lenses in my eyes, they go in really easy. It's great that we have a choice for our precious eyes. It's also important to be a clean person to wear contact lenses. If you work in a windy or dusty environment glasses would be a much better choice for you.
If you don't mind using the anti-bacterial soap on a regular basis and touching your mushy eye balls, contact lenses will work for you. If fashion is something you enjoy, glasses may be the perfect option for you. Your eye practitioner will have the best advice for you depending on the condition of your eyes. Be sure you trust your eye practitioner and have a great rapport with them. You will be happier with your choice knowing you took the professionals advice and are ready to see the world in clearer vision.
