Start by understanding that every sub-culture is on a curve with the "average" people adhering to that culture living fairly normal lives and somewhere to the far left end or the far right end of the bell those who embrace it in an extreme manner.

Take the traditional family for an example. Mom, Dad and the kiddies living in one house. The largest majority of us who choose that cultural paradigm do very well, but that isn't all of the story. There are horrors committed at the end of that little bell curve that will set your teeth on edge. Children beaten to death for crying, children hooked on drugs, sexually abused, starved and children simply being abandoned.

Now, look around at your, lets assume, largely normal family and imagine the government using the actions of these extreme examples of your lifestyle to leverage themselves into your home.

Just start with that and understand we still haven't done any talking about marginalization and the law of Unintended Consequences.

Our larger culture is a hodge-podge of smaller cultures, most of them are generally accepted as harmless, as well they should be. Some, because of their extremity of views or lifestyle become marginalized culturally and legally. When that happens, all most universally, a couple of things happen. First, fear is born. Fear from both sides of the issues. Second, alienation born. We must not go around them and they must not go around us. "We hate those people because they are weird." on one side and "we hate those people because they hate us." On the other.

For a history lesson in how this happens study the homosexual. The actual alienation of the homosexual probably peaked about the time I was a young boy. Homosexuals were perverted minions of Satan, a kind of sexual vampire who preyed on children and committed unnatural acts against God. They were to be both hated and despised.

The situation has evolved, we now know statistically that the evil demonic fellow preying on our children is probably a heterosexual male and a member of your own culture, if not your family.

So with that as a background let me finally approach the subject.

Polygamy, plural marriages and other alternate arrangements are practiced nationwide in this country. You might be shocked how close someone living this lifestyle lives to you. For reasons of their own, some of them religious, some cultural and some just a preference. Most of them are not reported and most of them work just fine, well at least as fine as regular marriage,
