Poetry: Falling in love

by Christine Whitmarsh

Created on: April 24, 2008

Love is rarely convenient
It doesn't wait for cues
It interrupts life's conversations
Love has nothing to lose.

When it makes an appearance
And makes its presence known
Love shouts and jumps and waves
It will not leave you alone.

But if you try to ignore it
It still won't go away
Love is not a puppy
That heeds orders to sit or stay

Love rarely comes when you need it
Or when you're hoping that this is the day
It has its own agenda
Love has the final say.

So when it comes along
Be sure that you don't miss it
Even if the circumstances seem wrong
And you do your best to avoid it

For no matter how fast you run
And try so hard to deny it
Love only knows one rule:
It's here, it's real, now enjoy it.
