Top 10 albums of all time and what makes them the best

1. The Beatles (AKA The White Album) - The Beatles

How many other albums drove a man crazy and made him try to start a race war and command his followers to murder people? Okay, this and that one "Weird Al" Yankovic album. People point to other Beatles albums as being better, but this one is it for me. Disc one alone is insane, what with "Glass Onion," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," and "Martha My Dear," but then you get to Disc two and you still have "Sexy Sadie" and "Helter Skelter." It's almost not fair to include Beatles albums in this list. I could list 10 of them. So this will be it.

2. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac

This album was all of the songwriters, Nicks, Buckingham, and McVie, at their very best all at once. It remains one of the biggest sellers of all time, and it's still great to listen to. This is the album that gave us "Don't Stop" and "Go Your Own Way," plus "Never Going Back Again," "Songbird," and "The Chain." It's an absolutely insane album from start to finish.

3. Led Zeppelin I - Led Zeppelin

Like with the Beatles, how can you pick just one Zeppelin album? Like this. Their debut, I think, remains their best, with the mix of the heavy blues tracks with the radio-friendly "Good Times Bad Times" and "Communication Breakdown." And then "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You?" Come on!

4. Van Halen - Van Halen

Another brilliant debut from a great band. From the opening of "Running with the Devil" to "Eruption" to "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" to "Ice Cream Man," there isn't a weak link to be found.

5. Appetite for Destruction - Guns n' Roses

You have to get to Track 6, "Paradise City," to even get to a song here that doesn't kick 100% arse, and that's because of years of hearing it on the radio. Everyone's always "Nevermind, Nevermind, Nevermind." Well, I say, "Appetite for Destruction!"

6. Straight Outta Compton - N.W.A.

The title track, "F* the Police," and "Gangsta Gangsta." The first three tracks alone make this album the best rap record ever. But it doesn't stop. Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy E, and MC Ren. You still can't beat that foursome.

7. Garbage 2.0 - Garbage

Garbage topped themselves with their sophomore release, featuring works of genius like "I Think I'm Paranoid," "Push It," and "Temptation Waits." It won awards when it was released in 1998, and it should win still be winning awards today.

8. Boston - Boston

How many albums, debut albums even, get all eight of its tracks played in heavy rotation regularly for over 30 years after its release. I think people forget how incredible this album is. They think it's a greatest hits record. No! "More Than A Feeling," "Peace of Mind," "Smokin'," "Rock and Roll Band," and "Let Me Take You Home Tonight" are all from Boston's debut album from 1976! R.I.P. Brad Delp.

9. Become What You Are - The Juliana Hatfield 3

Okay, this is where I let my madness take control. This 1993 release by Hatfield remains her best, in my humble opinion, and the songs "My Sister," "For the Birds," "Feelin' Massachusetts," and "Little Pieces" still melt me to this day.

10. Jesus Freak - DC Talk

Okay, we all need a little Jesus in our lives. If you think Christian rock is crap, try listening to this CD, released in 1995. The title track alone is as good as any Nirvana song. Yeah, I said it.
