Infinity
In this high domed silence
surrounded by mountain peaks
and hushed forest
I sit on a sun-warmed rock
watching the azure water that holds
so many stories
stories all around me
in the bee that drones around my head
the scattering of pebbles near my feet
the scent of decaying leaves
and the gentle touch
of sunlight on my face
I can breathe in this place
and become it
its silence, its movement
its life and death
I can melt into the infinite universes
all around me
merging with rock and grass and water
and be just a small part
of an enormous place in time
but in my own way, significant

Which shards of sunlight underscore

Where stars
bow their heads
in slumber
I drift off
contemplating
mor ning's birth.
Fog creeps
around me
above and beyond

Hiking stick in hand
I looked out over the meadow
The vision I saw was grand
