I Hear You
A little girl sitting
alone in her room
playing with her crayons and books.
Her mother calls
and asks her to pick up
a quick reply, "I hear you!"
A husband comes home from work
takes off his shoes
and props up his feet.
A wife brushes past
and asks him to cook
a solemn reply, "I hear you!"
An old woman kneels
alone in her room
and silently prays in the night.
God listens in
on the prayer she begins
empathy sets, "I hear you."

So still and small;

Hear at all.
Within my mind,
I block you out.
Suddenly,
I hear a shout.
Don't

elbows me in the rib.

smoking, drinking, overeating.
You want me to be good and
Beep
I hear you coffee pot.
I'm ready for a cup.
Beep
I hear you microwave.
My oatmeal's hot.
Beep
I hear you washing machine.
The
I HEAR YOUR VOICES
It started as a child,
I would wander wondering
between the stones.
Reading names of those who
walked this
