You want to be a writer? Maybe you want to be an architect? How about a school teacher? These are just some of the possibilities that are offered to us in life. But, what and why do we choose what we do? I truly believe if you attract people and opportunities that interest you, success will come to you. You must surround yourself with people that you wish to be like. A desire to succeed and soar over your dreams.

If architecture is something that interests you it would make sense to take some art classes at an art museum or local college. Another idea would be to find a part time job at a construction company. This would give you the opportunity to observe what an architect does and to talk to someone experienced in this field. A job site of new construction would be another place to visit. You would want to check with the head foreman on the job before you entered the site, but it would be a great way to see the end product of an architect.

Now, if teaching interests you. Surround yourself with people who teach and you enjoy being around. If you had a grade school teacher that you clashed ideas with, that would not be the teacher to choose. Go into the classroom. If you had a favorite teacher, give them a call. Tell him/her how much you enjoyed their class and you are interested in going into the field of teaching. Ask them when would be a good time for you to visit and observe. It's always a good idea to see if you can handle "mouthy" children on a daily basis. Now, I do know not all of the students are "mouthy," but it could make a long day for any teacher.

Is losing weight something that you wish for? Joining Weight Watchers may be a good place to start. Hitting every fast food hamburger joint on a daily basis will NOT help your situation. You will need to surround yourself with people who eat like you need to. Observe others eating at family gatherings. If you see a plate of fruits, veggies, and dairy products, this would be a good person to chat about eating healthy. Sometimes by adjusting our greasy hamburger habits and eating sweet strawberries a little weight will fall off. Hopefully, just enough to motivate you. Go to the local YMCA. There's usually "fit" people on the track or in the weight room. Start a conversation with someone whom you would like to be like, in this case, not the largest person in the facility. Find out how often the person works out and set a goal to work out when they do. They just might push you to work harder and your weight will fall off quicker. Again, it's about surrounding yourself with people you desire to be like.

If writing interests you, submit articles to the opinion page of your local newspaper. It's a great way to express yourself and your views. It also gives you the experience of writing on a topic you have a passion for. Finding that passion is what will help you be successful. Passion will help you through whatever you desire to achieve. Opportunities await for all of us, but we just have to reach out for them. Surround ourselves with people we admire and want to be like. Anybody can do anything, but they have to set their minds to it! You will meet great people and be set for life!
