Testimonies: Kids say the darndest things!

I guess that any one that knows me knows how proud that I am to be a grandmother. Although I am not your average grandmother, meaning, I do not get to do my grand mothering up close and personal. You see, we live on opposite sides of the map about 3,600 miles or more apart.

So while other grandmothers are sharing their first hand stories, I share the experiences that I get to live vicariously through telephone conversations, which sometimes I feel is a sad commentary, but nevertheless I accept this with some grumbling but much gratitude and acceptance. I have even learned to enjoy the grandmother time that I do have.

I will have to first explain how I got christened with the title "Grammy" my oldest grandson had some issues with hearing and after they addressed that he had some speech problems. So he could not pronounce grandma, and so therefore he called me, "Grammy" and it stuck.

Which we waited so long for him to be able to speak it was music to my ears! I was thrilled about it, and now since my daughter has given birth to two other boys the have followed suit and they to call me Grammy. I still adore it and it makes me feel honored and special. I have to laugh too when they come on TV announcing the "Grammy Awards", I say to myself, I already have three Grammy Awards."

The middle grandson is more like my daughter than the others. Oh, all of my grandsons are special and unique in their very own ways, and I love each one of them tremendously! The middle one has inherited his mothers sense of humor and outgoing personality.

My daughter has been working with each one to teach them about saving money to buy things that they want. Also teaching them the value of money and the costs of things and how to make change and stuff. Well the middle one(who is 6) had saved up money to get something that he wanted so they went to the store to get it. He had found his item and checked his item for the price to make sure that he had enough to cover it and off they went to the register.

He plopped his item down on the counter, the lady rang it up and said that will be such and such, he said, Oh, no lady you are wrong the price tag says this amount. So his mother was trying to explain to him about taxes and how Uncle Sam had to get a part of the money.

So then he placed his hands on his hips, and said, "Who is this Uncle Sam, and why does he want my money." the whole store was roaring with laughter, as I did when I heard the story. I joked back with my daughter telling her when he got the answer to that one he better tell me, because I have been wondering that for along time.

Another brief story about the same grandson. My daughter and a friend of hers

went to the local dollar store looking at some goodies together and they had the middle one along with them on this adventure. They were looking at some ceramic goodies and the friend said to my daughter, look aren't those some cute chickens, and my little grandson putting his hands on his hips said, "Lady, that's not a chicken, that a cock."

My daughter and her friend turned all shades of red, and had a good laugh. Well he might not have had the exact title but her knew that the friend had it wrong.

I have stories on each of the grandchildren, but seems like I get more stories on this one because of his character and outgoing nature. But they are each one very special.. Stay tuned for the next Grammy Story......
