Poetry: Wide open

by Kate Miller

Created on: April 24, 2008

It's taken so much to take those few steps
into the light, with all the memories he's kept
Storing them away, hiding them in wounds
begging to be saved while he shouts at the moon
And these scars are the ones the sun is seeing for the very first time
Wide open, he's confessing in flawless rhyme
The cuts are deep and the salt is sharp
His tears have made the world warp
And all it took was everything in him
And here he is, pain to the brim
Out in the open, as the lights go dim
